LOL… wut.

I was all ready to come here and post about today’s finals — I even had the pic ready. I watched both Delpo‘s and Flavia‘s, so I was prepared to make some insightful comment about the tennis and how it was hilarious to see Delpo going all “wheee” to Roddick’s face. I mean, it’s not the dude’s fault. Roddick challenged the championship point winner and went to the net. When the call remained, they were facing each other. Delpo celebrated. It made me laugh. I was also going to talk about how Sam is an idiot, really. But I’ll skip that and congratulate Flavia. But before I came here to post, I took a quick look at my feeds and realized that there are other absurd, ridiculous stuff happening on the sport that are more worth mentioning than those stuff.

Such as, when Tennis Forum comes up with cracktastic threads like Lesbians Are The Biggest Chokers On Tour. LOL wut. Examples? Momo, Kuz, Sharapova. Since we’re at it, didn’t Sam lose a match against Serena this year in Australia having match points? Or was it last year? Whatever, it happened. And does this means maybe Kiri is a lesbian? Or Lena? I don’t think that theory makes sense.

And onto more stuff that makes me “LOLWUT”, why oh why is Rafa playing doubles in Montréal with his 40-year-old coach? Am I the only one that finds that disrespectful to the tournament and to the other players? I love the boy to death but this might be taking the whole “tournament as practice” a little too far. There were probably other players, maybe even doubles specialists, that wanted in. But again, the organizers probably don’t care. They just want to sell tickets… even if it’s tickets for a fancy practice session.

Amusing pissed!Federer for some more “LOL… WHAT”.

Rafa looking gorgeous in Mallorca

According to ATP Mens Tennis Blog, Rafa was spotted in an yatch close to his home in Palma de Mallorca. He’s even — wait for it — SMILING. Gasp!

60

And eating, of course. As always.

Now, let’s talk about Rafa’s outfit. I’m incredibly happy how our boy’s fashion style has evolved. A t-shirt that fits, white sneakers (who doesn’t love white sneakers?) and red shorts to work on the blue + white + red combo. Yes, our boy is all grown up. Now, as much as I love that t-shirt (even if it might be a bit of too House of Holland for me), Rafa wearing it is a big red NAY. Rafa wearing a shirt that has his name all big on the middle of it, it’s the equivalent of Federer and his stupid mongram. So… no, Rafa… just… no.

Bye bye grass – I promise I won’t miss you!

Thoughts all the ladies’ final: YAWN. How sucky to have a final like that after the EPIC Serena semis. O well.

Thoughts all the men’s final: YAWN. I don’t care if it was 789845-789843 on the fifth set. It felt like I was watching two pros practice their serves. Congratulations, Federer, on being the greatest ever yadda yadda yadda. Next.

Q. How would you describe what you did today?

ANDY RODDICK: I lost.

No shit, Andy. BYE GRASS, SEE YOU NEXT YEAR. Don’t let the door hit you on your way out. BYEEEEEEEEEEEE. Now, can we pls fast-forward to clay? Fine, fine, I’ll be nice during the American hardcourt season. *pouts*

WAGs > tennis players, obvs

C’MON, MANDY!!!!! WIN THIS THING!!!!!!

Moving on.

Roddick‘s wife, the “model”, Brookly Decker… teasing the photographers? Because, honestly, I can’t think of anything sexier than a piece of paper. Nom nom nom. And I remember looking for that cap in every single Lacoste store in Paris when that thing came out and they only had in men’s size. So either they released smaller model now or she has a very a big head. *insert 5645 dirty jokes involving the word head + her “modelling” career here* Yes, I am a terrible person. No wonder people search those awful things and it leads them to my blog.

Sara Foster, sweetie, you’re not that famous. Why are you hiding? Was today’s “pretend you’re goth” day? No? Then the answer is GET A BETTER OUTFIT. You have to dress better or the title of my favourite WAG will go to Mirka or something. Oh lol, I kid, I kid. I could never trade you for Miroslava. Maybe for Kim Sears, but certainly not for Mirka! 😀

And just because I’m sure everyone misses the best WAG that has ever been — Camilla Belle, I must post a pic to remember the good times.

Bonus: a picture of the happy couple at its prime* before Camilla moved onto the ATP/prepubescent Disney boys.

*Must not make Muff Muncher jokes. Must not make Muff Muncher jokes. Must not make Muff Muncher jokes. Oh damn.

Working on that “please the readers” thing

Regarding this post, Fierce Tennis reader, Daniel Faraday said he (or she — Daniel might be a weird 17-year-old girl from Chicago that uses a guy’s name online) would like to see more of Marin Cilic, Roger Federer and baby animals. I picked the two that were relevant to tennis and made a post.

There you go, Daniel. I hope you enjoy reading my blog.

The matches sucked but CEREMONY ADORABLENESS didn’t

ft22

Even though my feelings towards both of the finals was “Wahwahwah why was it so boring and why did X have to lose?”, the trophy presentation made up for it. I don’t think I should be complaining about the quality of the tennis after yesterday’s epic semifinal but eh, I wish Rafa wasn’t a dead man walking today so I would have been more entertained. Thank goodness for tennis players being giggly at each other and Dinara IN JEANS* (I was ridiculously amused by that, ok?)!!!!

  • This picture (and this .gif) of Roger and Dinara when the glitter bomb exploded is literally the LOLLIEST thing ever. They were both scared to death and JUMPED at the sound. Why so presh, bbs?
  • You can see a picspam at someone’s personal LJ here of the Rafa-Roger final and some qt pictures of the ceremony.
  • Here’s a video of the first part of the trophy presentation. Why is the men’s runner-up trophy so fugly? Is it because they thought it was going to go to Federer/Nole?
  • Here’s the second part aka Dinara being adorable speaking Spanish. Hee!

*Does anyone know if these are Diesel jeans from the Adidas collection? Srs question.

Good tennis makes good day

ft21

I’ve been called “crazy” and all different sorts of synonyms by family and friends because of tennis. If I go back and think of the numerous ammounts of classes I’ve skipped to either watch or play, all the times I drank my sorrows because “dear goodness, Lena is such a choker” and all the days that the only reason I was happy was because of a match — you can say the shoe kinda fits. Last night, I went to this birthday party and crashed at my friend’s place after. I got there at 5 am and at 10 am I was sitting on his living room’s couch, wrapped under a blanket, waiting for the match to begin. There are matches things like these that are totally not worth it. I can name numerous Saturdays and Sundays I woke up at 6am to watch Lena lose in either the semis or the finals of Kremlin Cup. Yes, 6 am on Sundays. I’m hardcore. Today, it was totally frakkin’ worth it. 4 hours and 2 minutes of mind-blowing tennis with Rafa saving 3 match points. Novak had his chances, he completely owned Rafa in the first set and had the chance to close out the match in the second. I think these are the moments where you see why Rafa is number one: mental strength. Kid is a fighter. Now tomorrow we’ll have the final that the press and the organizers were waiting for: Roger x Rafa. I think Federer has a big chance of defeating Rafa tomorrow, he’s fresh (his semi lasted under an hour and half) and the boy just played a marathon.

You can watch the highlights of the match here and Rafa’s post match interview here.

And just because I’m excited for Roland Garros:

Roland Garros 2009 Preview

I’ll be there in Paris from Monday to Sunday during the first week. I’ll be taking pictures like crazy so I will try to blog and tweet them as much as possible. 🙂

Just do it

I don’t know at which point of my life as a tennis fan, I stopped being a three-stripes girl and started being a Nike girl. The only thing I know is that all the time I was trashing Yonex — nothing new here. It’s not just that Adidas tennis outfits got worse (ignoring the Stella McCartney line, of course)… but they did. Remember the one-long-sleeve shirt that Martina Hingis wore at one time when she won the Aussie Open? Or Anna K.‘ white belt with blue shorts? These were the days. Nike also got better, they started having brighter outfits and different collections to fit everyone’s taste. This probably explains why I’m now ogling and longing their new collection so bad. So much pretty. Want.

ft7

That cover-up top just wins at life. Lime Green? Yes. Pink stripes? Yes plz. And I don’t think I even have to comment on the shoes. I’ve been in love with them ever since I saw Vika Azarenka wearing them, it was love at first sight. So much colours, so little time.

And on the Men’s side, the fashion keeps on going hard. Rafa‘s this year’s collection has been nothing but great. The Lime Green/Light Blue shorts he had at the Aussie Open were gorgeous. Every time I looked at him I would have Gwen Stefani‘s Bubble Pop Electric on my head. That’s a good sign btw.

ft6

Yellow/Orange/Pink have always been my favourite colours for the clay season, so I’m really really hoping he wears this shiny pink polo. Even if just for practicing, it’s a beautiful shirt. The shoes? Gor-geous. I love the bull. I only hope that it doesn’t become Rafa’s version of Federer‘s RF. We all know how they like to milk it. Evil corporation of doom, why do you create such pretty things that I must own?
